Nevada Traffic School
Overview
Traffic School In Nevada
Drivers in Nevada typically take traffic school for one of two reasons:
- As part of a plea bargain agreement with their court, or
- Voluntarily to remove 3 points from their driving record.
Court-Referred
When you receive a traffic ticket, Nevada courts and judges often offer plea bargain agreements to drivers in exchange for certain benefits such as lower fees or ticket dismissal. If completing a traffic school course is part of your plea bargain agreement with your court, or if you have been ordered by a court to take a traffic school course, our course will satisfy this requirement.
Please note, you will not receive a point reduction on your driving record if this course is completed as part of a plea bargain.
Point Reduction
You may also voluntarily take our traffic school course to remove 3 points from your driving record. You will receive a notification from the DMV in the mail when you reach 3 or more points on your driving record. If you have between 3 and 11 points, you are eligible to take a traffic school course to have 3 points removed from your driving record if you have not taken a course for point reduction within the last 12 months.
How It Works
1. Register
Create a username and password. This allows you to securely login and logout at anytime. Registration is fast and easy -- only two minutes!
2. Coursework
Our course consists of interactive lessons that contain videos, games and animations. At the end of every lesson is a short quiz. Most people pass the lesson quiz on the first attempt, but you can retake a quiz as many times as necessary to pass.
Our course meets Nevada’s required length of 5 hours of instruction. You may complete this course at your own pace—a little at a time, or all at once. We provide unlimited logins so you can come and go as often as you want, and you will pick up right where you left off each time you return.
3. Final Exam
At the end of the course, you must pass a final exam to earn your Certificate of Completion. The exam is easy and takes about 10 minutes. You take it right on your computer. Most people pass the exam the first time. However, you can take it as often as you wish. There is no charge for retakes.
Please Note: The state of Nevada requires students to wait at least 4 hours before retaking the final exam. You can use this time to review the course material and prepare for your next attempt.
4. Certificate
For court-referred courses, we email the certificate to you when we receive your notarized affidavit. You can also print a copy online from your account.
You must print it out, sign it, and deliver it to the court for credit.
For Point Reduction Nevada Traffic School: After we receive your notarized affidavit, we will notify the NV DMV of your completion for you.
We suggest that you follow up with the NV DMV in 2-3 weeks to ensure they have processed your completion and the 3-point credit was issued. Safe2Drive will then
also email you a copy of your certifcate to have for your records. You can also print a copy online from your account.
