Safe2Drive is approved by the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to offer a Basic Delaware Defensive Driving course and a Refresher Defensive Driving course.
The Basic course is a 6-hour defensive driving course that Delaware drivers can take voluntarily to receive a 10% discount on their auto insurance for 3 years. Drivers who successfully complete this course will also receive a 3-point credit on their Delaware driving record.
The 6-hour Basic Defensive Driving course is made up of 11 timed lessons. At the end of each lesson, students must take a 2-question multiple-choice quiz. Students must answer both questions correctly in order to move on to the next lesson in the course. These quizzes can be taken as many times as necessary to pass.
At the end of the course, there is a final exam that consists of 10 multiple-choice questions. You must score at least 80% to pass. You may take the final exam as many times as necessary to pass.
After you pass the final exam, we instantly email you your Certificate of Completion. You can also print a copy of your certificate from your account. Sign the certificate and deliver it to your insurance provider to receive your insurance discount. We will submit your completion to the DMV for you so you can receive the 3-point credit on your driving record. Remember to check with the DMV 7-10 business days after you complete the course to make sure they have processed your completion!
